ASDT CAPRI SPORTING CLUB
“SPORT and FREE TIME in one of the most beautiful places on the island”
“SPORT and FREE TIME in one of the most beautiful places on the island”
The Island is Capri, and the slogan that appears on all the Club’s posters, is by no means a cliché, but is merely the pleasant reality, the environment and the atmosphere that involves those who frequent it; on the playing field, one is likely to be ‘distracted’ by the beauty of its surroundings.
The Capri Sporting Club, which began its activities in the spring of 1983, is located in Anacapri, the other municipality on the island of Capri, in one of the most beautiful and evocative areas of the island, in a panoramic position overlooking the entire Gulf of Naples.
The Sporting is the largest open-air area on the island equipped for sports, with three floodlit courts, one of which is an exclusive clay court for tennis with bleachers seating around 200, two multi-purpose synthetic grass courts for tennis, futsal, etc., and a further smaller area for gymnastic and training activities; the sports areas also include two large, well-equipped changing rooms with related facilities.
Indoor lounge with snack-bar/tea-room, T.V. with mega-screen and satellite system to follow together the most important sporting events broadcast by national and foreign networks, table tennis, table football, billiards; terraces and green areas; parking; all this completes the structure that represents the ideal “meeting point” for sportsmen and women and for all those who, while not practicing active sport, wish to spend their free time in a young and pleasant environment.
The Sporting has been the venue for prestigious events: from Nick Bollettieri’s first Italian ‘tennis clinic’ back in ’84 to the 1st Master Grand Prix Scaglia again in 1984, the exhibition of the National Military Tennis Team in 1985, the tennis tournament for professional footballers in July ’95, the Navy’s Absolute Team Tennis Championships and National Interforce Team Championships in the spring of ’96 and ’97, and the final of the Italian ‘under 16’ women’s team championship in October ’97.
Numerous tennis champions have trod the courts of the Anacapri club: Nicola Pietrangeli and Adriano Panatta, Francesco Cancellotti, Corrado Barazzutti, the English Wimbledon champion Virginia Wade, Steffi Graf and John McEnroe.
It is common to meet sportsmen and personalities, known and less known, from politics, business, culture, sport and the international jet set in tennis gear, who do not give up their favorite sport during their stay on the island.

With the intention of making available to the very young, a resource in the area, represented by its own facility and in the context of a continuity between school and extra-school, Sporting was one of the first clubs in Italy that, inspired by the “School and Sport” project between the Ministry of Public Education and the C.O.N.I., launched free courses with the necessary equipment for primary school pupils in collaboration with the Scholastic Institute.
The lessons, which always include a gymnastic-athletic preparatory part aimed at motor education, systematically and gradually integrated with game-sport activities akin to the game of tennis, are carried out according to a programme defined and shared with the heads of the Scholastic Institute.
The facility offers other leisure activities such as:
The versatility of the facility allows for meetings, parties, cocktails and music for any occasion.
Given the well-known and recognised appeal our island brings to the international arena, the Capri Sporting Club is an appropriate venue for holding events linked to a commercial brand, services, etc.: tournaments, exhibitions, meetings, product presentations, clothing lines, etc.
